New NCN OPUS 28 Grant in Our Group

Łucja Kowalewska has received an OPUS 28 grant titled “From Nature to Biomimetics: Molecular Mechanisms of Diamond-Type Cubic Membrane Formation in Photosynthetic Lineages,” which will be implemented in consortium with Dr. Michał Gabruk from Jagiellonian University and in close collaboration with Dr. Jakub Baczyński from our Faculty. The project will focus on deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying the transformation of etioplast membranes into Diamond-type cubic phases. The research will concentrate on structure-function relationships of LPOR and CURT1 proteins across different photosynthetic species, combining phylogenetic analyses with advanced structural biology approaches and development of biomimetic in vitro systems.
