New Publication on Thylakoid Membrane Adaptation Strategies

Our new paper, led by Radek Mazur on photosynthetic apparatus adaptation to low-light conditions in peas and beans, has been published. The study revealed that despite differences in thylakoid membrane architecture under standard conditions, both species exhibit convergent ultrastructural modifications when grown under low light, primarily through increased grana size. However, significant species-specific differences in adaptation strategies were discovered that affect plants’ acclimatory capacity. The findings have important implications for selecting and breeding plants better suited for controlled-environment agriculture. Read more: http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/ppl.70389
